Waterstones is making investments in two London bookshops this autumn, completing a refurbishment of the bookseller’s King’s Road bookshop and relocating its shop in Kensington to new premises.

At the end of October Waterstones will relocate its Kensington bookshop to new premises at 130 Kensington High Street.  Opening on Friday 25th October just across the road from the current Waterstones bookshop, the new shop will trade across two floors with a beautiful interior design including a number of specially selected antique tables.

Waterstones Kensington will celebrate its new bookshop on Sunday 27th October, with a Peter Pan inspired day of family entertainment. Children can enjoy a pirate themed treasure hunt and activities throughout the day and Waterstones Plus card customers can take advantage of the bookshop’s special opening weekend offer of double points on selected titles.

The celebrations will continue at Waterstones Kensington throughout the school half term holiday, with Halloween-themed activities taking place in the bookshop every day and children’s drawing and poetry competitions available to enter with great prizes on offer.

Freddie Ruddock, Bookshop Manager at Waterstones Kensington says

“For over 30 years, Waterstones on Kensington High Street has been a staple for locals and tourists alike and we are so excited to continue its story at our brand new location. Our expert team of booksellers have been involved every step of the way, their invaluable experience has ensured that throughout this process we’ve retained the heart of what makes Kensington’s Waterstones so special-its people. We’ve all had so much fun preparing for this move, and we can’t wait to share our new bookshop with our customers.”

On Saturday 19th October, Waterstones relaunched its shop on King’s Road with a day of celebrations. Peter Rabbit was there to cut the ribbon with children’s activities, story times, balloons and goody bags to follow. Customers enjoyed an evening of drinks and canapes as they browsed the new look bookshop.

The refurbishment of Waterstones King’s Road brings more room for children’s books and family friendly events in the expanded children’s department. The bookshop now stocks a wider range of stationery and gifts, with new flooring and lighting fitted throughout and curved bookcases added at the entrance.
