Westminster City Council and Everyone Active, an operator of City and Westminster leisure centres, will host a free Community Open Weekend on Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September.
This event invites the entire local community to get active and exercising entirely for free. The Active Westminster Community Open Weekend is open to all ages and abilities and is a unique opportunity for friends and families to come together, be active and try new activities.
“We’d like to see as many residents as possible have the chance to get active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Our Community Weekend is free and open to all regardless of age or ability, so we’d encourage everyone to get along to their local leisure centre and join in the fun.”
- Councillor Iain Bott, Westminster City Council Cabinet Member for Sports, Culture and Community
There will also be a diverse range of activities taking place within all facilities, including gymnastics, capoeira, swimming, basketball, badminton, squash, zumba, virtual spin sessions, karate, junior dance, netball, tae-kwon-do and judo, with many individual and group classes and sessions on offer for everyone to participate and enjoy throughout the weekend.
“There’s no better way to end the summer holidays than with a free family day out, filled with sporting activities, friendly competition and delicious food, says, “We’re looking forward to welcoming locals down to all of our centres across the borough to get involved in the activities we have on offer. We hope to inspire more of the community to fall in love with sport and keep active.”
- Andy Davison, Everyone Active Contract Manager
