Upcoming visual art installation and auction to raise money for the Chelsea Academy

A visual art installation displayed in the shop window of Lots Road Auction House to be auctioned to fund raise for the Chelsea Academy Foundation, the charitable arm of Chelsea Academy.

Local artists, residents, students and celebrities have created postcard sized artwork to sell at a live auction on the 16th May at Lots Road Auctions to raise money to support art, drama, music and restocking the library at Chelsea Academy.  Over 50 lots will be for sale and include contributions from students, parents, local residents and professional artists.  Amazing artwork available from £10 upwards.

We are delighted to have Adebanji Alade (local artist and One Show guest presenter), Geoffrey Matthews (Chelsea Arts Club secretary), Sam Mckechnie (local artist, writer and doll maker), Graeme Evelyn (www.graemeevelyn.com) and Ilaria Rosselli Del Turco (local portrait artist) as part of our postcard selection panel.

Over 1,000 students aged 11-18 years attend the Academy and form an integral part of the local community. While the Academy is an Ofsted “Outstanding” school, it has double the number of students on free-school meals (56%) as the national average, and three times as many students who speak English as a second language (43%). Despite these challenges, the Academy is ranked in the top 14% of UK schools for student progress and students are immensely talented in the arts.

The Academy is committed to giving students a well rounded education and acknowledge the importance of the arts in achieving this goal.  Monies raised from the auction will be used to support art, drama, music and restocking the library at the Academy.

Matt Williams, Principal at Chelsea Academy, says ‘We are delighted to be partnering with Lots Road Auctions again after such a successful event last year.  This year is promising to be even bigger and better as so many local artists have taken the time to create amazing postcard artwork for the auction.’

Due to the fantastic sponsorship support from Martin & Co Sales and Lettings, Lots Road Pub, Lots Road Cafe and Lots Road Auctions ALL money raised from the auction will be used to support art, drama, music and technology at Chelsea Academy.

If you wish to attend the auction please RSVP to Clair Bradley at clair.bradley@chelsea-academy.org
