The 200th birthdays of the late Queen Victoria (May 24th) & Prince Albert (May 26th) were celebrated in concert at Cadogan Hall on the 25th of May 2019.
The concert consisted of performances by The Royal Choral Society and Coburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Notable choral solos were performed by singers Laura Incko (soprano), Francesca Paratore (soprano), and Peter Aisher (tenor).
Largely displaying music written by the royal couple’s favourite composer, Felix Mendelssohn, there was also work by Prince Albert himself included in this bicentenary celebration.
The night was conducted by Roland Kluttig, Music Director of the Coburg orchestra and Richard Cooke, The Royal Choral Society’s Music Director.
A few notable audience members was The President of the Royal Choral Society Richard Cooke, The Duke of Kent and His Excellency the German Ambassador Peter Wittig, Prince Andreas, and Prince Hubertus from Coburg.
Wittig praised the concert which underlined the power of music to unite people across borders.
