Healthy Lungs and Environmental Impact Event

Meet experts on Air quality and discuss the effects on lung health at an event being held on 23rd May in Maida Vale, titled ‘Healthy Lungs and environmental Impact.’

The Public meeting, organized by the British Lung Foundation (BLF) Support Group ‘Breathe Easy Westminster’, encouraged by the European Lung Foundation will provide key information and answer questions about the environment and health.

Speakers will include the council’s “Stop Idling” program, Client Earth environmental lawyers and Dr Ian Mudway from Kings Environmental Health, alongside “Stop Smoking” information.

The BLF’s Policy team will also be there, discussing their role in tackling pollution and the advantage of early spirometry testing from Imperial’s respiratory team.

The organisers said “Air pollution is one of the major environmental determinants of health, and there is good evidence it has a significant impact on, amongst other things, the incidence and severity of cardiovascular disease and lung health.

‘It has both short- and long-term health effects and has a particular impact on children as they grow.’

‘Breathe Easy Westminster’, is a British Lung Foundation Support Group, that run workshops, talks, activities, games and networking events on the third Monday of every month.

They also run Thai Chi classes, encouraging improvement of breathing, balance and stability as a form of wellbeing, inviting people to come down for a taster session, starting 1th May.

The Event will be held at Top Floor, Ada Court, 10-16 Maida Vale, W9 1TD between 2pm and 5pm.
