Middle Eastern restaurant and cocktail bar, Mamounia Lounge, located in the heart of Kensington and Chelsea’s Knightsbridge has unveiled a new A La Carte menu – and the food is divine!
The new offering combines the venue’s traditional Moroccan and Lebanese cooking with contemporary flavours and serves many of the dishes in sharing plates ideal for groups, parties or intimate dates.
The menu interprets classic Arabic dishes with West London flair, showcasing Head Chef Thamer Darwish’s mastery of traditional cooking methods. Darwish uses the finest ingredients and serves many of his dishes mezze style, encouraging guests to share throughout the meal – something we thoroughly enjoyed doing at the launch party.
The new menu includes dishes such as theTruffle Hummus which is so light and creamy and is served with truffles, wild mushrooms and warm Lebanese bread.
The Seafood Bourek that is made up of golden crispy filo pastry wrapped around king prawns, crab meat and scallops. A seafood enthusiasts dream.
Kadaif Prawns are wrapped with the famous middle easters crispy kadaif pastry and it’s served with smashed avocado (very modern and millennial)
All of that is just for starters – there are great things on the mains menu too. Guests are encouraged to dine banquet-style, starting with a selection of hot and cold mezze, with dishes such as moutabel – a smoked aubergine dip with tahini and garlic and topped with pomegranate seeds (great for vegans too)
Other mezze style plates that impressed included the mixed grill including the Shish Taouk, Lamb Fatayel and Farruj Meshuwi (baby chicken marinated with paprika, corriander and lemon).
Alternatively, guests can also opt for a Traditional Moroccan dishes including the traditional shoulder of lamb marinated in Moroccan spices and roasted slowly for up to 8 hours served with couscous on the side.
And they haven’t missed out the deserts either (if you still have room) The options (many of which are handmade) include classics such as baklawa (crispy filo finger pastries filled with Pistachios) mahalabia, (arabic milk pudding with date molasses, rose water and caramelised pistachios).
Before or after dinner, guests can head to the bar, which serves an eclectic cocktail menu, featuring ingredients that complement Thamer’s cooking. These range from Golden Oasis with fresh watermelon and pineapple shaken with stoli orange, apple liqueur and vanilla essence to the striking Mamounia Blazer (a choice of flambeed Hennessey XO or Flora De Caña 18yr Rum with caramelised seasonal berries. Served hot and finished with Orange Zest.
A snug outdoor terrace will offer an exciting Shisha Menu that can be enjoyed alongside the restaurant’s cocktails. Using the finest molasses every day, Mamounia Lounge shishas are prepared fresh upon request. Popular Starbuzz flavours and more adventurous alcoholic shisha can be combined with fresh fruit heads including Apple, Lemons and Baby Pineapples.
And if you fancy venturing further out of the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Mamounia Lounge Knightsbridge has a sister venue in Mayfair. Situated on 37a Curzon Street, the restaurant promises the same exquisite experience, with Middle Eastern cocktails, shisha, entertainment and culinary delights.
