St James’s Church, Sussex Gardens, Paddington, London W2  3UD

In aid of the charity Inner City Centre

a London-based charitable psychology service offering affordable mental-health counselling and support via specialist referral. They are experiencing increased demand for their services and are keen to raise funds to increase their provision.

Our programme:

Bernstein: Chichester Psalms

Duruflé: Requiem

Fauré: Cantique de Jean Racine

+ Instrumental Works

Ivor Setterfield – conductor

Trafalgar Ensemble

William Whitehead – organist

Martha McLorinan – mezzo-soprano

Timothy Nelson – baritone

Our next concert will contain a wonderful and contrasting mix of choral pieces. For those unfamiliar with the works, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms (Psalms 100, 23 and 131) is set in the original Hebrew, bringing together a magical mix of the Bible and shades of Broadway. Duruflé’s Requiem draws inspiration from the Gregorian chant, and is considered Duruflé’s masterpiece. Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine takes Racine’s paraphrase of a Latin hymn and sets it with beautiful restraint and charming simplicity.

All tickets are priced at £15.00.

A bar will be available during the interval and after each performance.
