Australia completed their ODI preparations with a comprehensive 101-run victory over Middlesex at Lord’s.
Top-scoring Travis Head looked in fine form as he raced towards 106, ably partnered by the at-times explosive Aaron Finch (54). Australia ended their innings on 283-6 but they could not seem to capitalise on weak bowling during the middle overs.
In response, Middesex’s Max Holden scored a measured 71 but he lacked in support at the other end. Bar Holden, Middlesex’s batsmen were lacklustre at the crease and allowed the Australian bowlers to take control. Kane Richardson took 3-31 as Middlesex were bowled out for 182 in 41 overs.
Australia start their one-day series against England in a day-night match at the Oval tomorrow.
Middlesex return to County Championship Division Two action when they travel to Leicestershire on Wednesday, 20 June.
