Volunteers helping to ‘Link Up’ Battersea

Link Up Battersea, a multi-purpose charity founded by the Katherine Low Settlement in 2015 which works towards tackling poverty and building a stronger community in Battersea and Wandsworth, currently provides prospects for volunteers and charities to make a contribution to the local community.

In the past, there have been a number of successful ‘Link Ups’ where volunteers have acquired work-related skills by doing tasks like reviewing the Human Resource policy of a charity, advising on communications for an event, building a new database, and serving on a working group to develop a low-income financial platform.

There are currently 20 volunteer opportunities available and more coming in regularly. Examples of opportunities include Improving communications, updating websites, writing case studies and blogging, providing marketing advice for a new social enterprise, event management of an annual ball.

So far volunteers have said that the Link Up Battersea has had a positive impact on their health and confidence while providing a chance to practise existing skills and learning new ones. ‘I really enjoyed working with the team, who do such great work in the local community,” said Georgina, a volunteer consultant adding “I hope Link Up Battersea will continue to support them,’

Link Up Battersea is inviting all interested volunteers for a cup of coffee (8:30am-10am) on Wednesday 18th May at the Queenswood, 15 Battersea Square, London SW11 3AR, this is a great way to learn more about opportunities the company offers and ask questions.
