To the tune of I am The Very Model of a Modern Major-General

There’s campanula, camellia, antirrhinum and spartium

And hydrangea and oxalis and the jolly rhododendron

And euonymus, euphorbia, eupatorium, geranium

And poppy, amaryllis and rudbeckia and trillium

Heliotropium, helipterum, linum, limonium

And capsicum and onopordum, orchid and origanum

Peach, polypodium, polemonium, platycerium

And tarragon, trifolium, teucrium and taxodium

There’s aconitum, solanum, silybum and viburnum

And symphytum, papaver, verbascum, venidium

And lilium japonicum, jasminum and delphinium

And mimosa, lupin, helianthemum and asplenium

There’s halimium and marjoram and hosta and helenium

And primula, pennisetum, philadelphus, phormium

Endymion, miscanthus, mimulus, myosotidium

Dysprosium and scandium and cestrum and doronicum

Glaucium and hypericum and tarragon and heracleum

Agapanthus, anemone and alyssum and allium

Chrysanthemum, chlorophytum, clematis, pelargonium

Erodium, eryngium, artichokes from Jerusalem

And rheum and rosemary and ranunculus and colchicum

There’s buxus, salix, cyclamen, convolvulus, clerodendrum

And rosa, salvia, sorbus, floribunda and lithospermum

And lippia, laurel, larix, ilex, iris and teucrium

Fine for someone speaking Latin in the Vatican in Rome

We prefer common or garden English names right here at home
