Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum wins prestigious award


Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum continues to be high on the list of attractions for visitors from all over the world, a fact highlighted by the achievement of a Best Told Story accolade for 2014 by VisitEngland. Each year, a number of attractions in England receive VisitEngland accolades in recognition of their success in creating an exceptional experience for visitors.

These sought-after awards are part of the Visitor Attractions Quality Scheme and are allocated through a scoring system based on an annual assessment by VisitEngland. Accolades for top scoring attractions include: Welcome, Hidden Gem, Best Told Story, Quality Café and Gold. The Best Told Story accolade was awarded to the Museum for the breadth and variety of its exhibitions and the imagination used to convey the stories behind them.

Exhibitions in the last year at the Museum have included an impressive collection of outfits worn by last year’s star tennis players and also a striking collection of ‘Powerful Posters’ depicting the use of tennis in popular advertising – and including the world famous Athena Tennis Girl Poster.The Museum also holds a newly designed display area containing the iconic Championship trophies, which visitors can view in the round. There is also the exclusive Blue Badge Guide Tour of the Wimbledon grounds giving an intimate look at Wimbledon, and the delights of The Championships.
