Want to find out about wildlife or become a conservation volunteer?

Holland Park Ecology Centre is offering nature lovers a variety of events to enjoy during the coming year. The activities, which take place in Holland Park, include talks on: amphibians, bats, parakeets, bumblebees, flora and fungi. All the events are free but must be booked in advance.

The first event of the new year, ‘a winter tree walk’, takes place on Saturday 21 February. Residents can book their place, find out the dates of other events and sign up to get alerts about forthcoming activities atwww.rbkc.gov.uk/ecologyevents

There is also an opportunity for residents to volunteer with Taskforce 4 Nature and undertake conservation work in the park.  Tasks range from building dead-hedges and stag beetle loggeries, pond maintenance, woodland management, meadow cutting and more.

The next Taskforce 4 Nature volunteer day takes place on Saturday 17 January with sessions running from 10.30am to 3pm.  Volunteers should meet near Holland Park cafe and are advised to wear sturdy shoes, bring waterproofs and lunch and expect to get their hands and clothes dirty.
