Legendary chef Ken Hom will be hosting a rare public Masterclass this Friday 28th November to support the launch of the Oriental Culinary Institute (OCI.) The OCI will be teaching the art of Oriental and Asian cuisine at the centre of London’s Covent Garden as a venture from School of Wok – a business set up by chef Jeremy Pang to spread the knowledge and skill of the regions cooking.
The school will be aimed at both budding chefs and casual cooks alike, hoping to create something different, appeal to those who want to learn the basics or perfect extravagant and exotic dishes.
The Institution has therefore been set up to specialise in accredited professional training, for those dreaming of setting up a street food café, joining the wave of trendy pop ups appearing all over London or starting the journey to becoming a professional Michelin Star aspiring chef. However there’s a place there if you just want to learn the secrets behind a great dim sum and show off some mean cooking skills to friends and family.
Providing three-week courses, private consultancy, chef training and even bespoke one-to-one learning in a professional environment. Stating they will; “provide the understanding and focus on kitchen organisation and preparation in a commercial environment, essential for any professional chef.
The one-off Ken Hom Masterclass (28th November) will run between 6pm and 9pm and is priced at £250 per person inclusive of all materials, food and drink. The Masterclass will offer secure a place to learn from Ken Hom’s expertise in a hands-on class environment. A great start to a potentially great new centre of culinary learning in Covent Garden.
