Teatro Vivo Present After the Tempest

Wednesday, 24th July 2013

The Spirits of the Island invite you to come and celebrate Independence Day!

After the Tempest is Teatro Vivo’s latest epic, interactive adventure that will see us collaborate with some of London’s most beautiful green spaces and exciting outdoor festivals (Lewisham’s People’s Day and Kensington and Chelsea’s InTransit Festival).

This promenade production is inspired by Shakespeare's Tempest performed outside as the sun goes down and in all weathers.

The dictator Prospero has relinquished control and finally left the island for good so the Spirits will be celebrating by re-enacting the last moments of Prospero's reign.

The audience will watch in amazement as they discover lovers and kings, monsters and men creating a storm in the undergrowth. But they will have to be careful... as one dictator leaves, another one is never far away...

After the Tempest will be directed by Sophie Austin. Sophie trained at Rose Bruford College and has gone on to work with The Royal Court, Howard Barker, Kali Theatre, the Young Vic, Told by an Idiot, Dash Arts, Professor Vanessa’s Wondershow, and Sonia Friedman Productions. She is artistic director of Teatro Vivo and this is her eighth show with the collective.

A professional cast will be teamed with a local, community chorus who will help to create this magical, night-time experience.

Teatro Vivo are a theatre company made up of professional directors, writers, musicians and actors who create high quality performance pieces that work in direct collaboration with the spaces that we use, and in so doing, introduce audiences to the possibilities of what theatre can be.

They create theatrical experiences that put theatre amongst the audience, enabling you to hear, see, smell and experience the lives of the characters as a story unfolds around you.

Teatro Vivo's style of theatre is an all encompassing experience for audiences of all ages. Aiming to break down the barriers that traditional theatres put up Teatro Vivo invite audiences to wander through the worlds they have created giving the audience their very own experience of the space and the stories told within it.
