Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, who died at the age of 85, has left his £150,000,000 fortune to his cat Choupette. Lagerfeld, best known for giving Chanel the iconic reputation it has today, passed away on pancreatic cancer on Tuesday 19th February in Paris.
He reportedly fell in love with the Birman cat after looking after her for a friend, later joking that he had abducted her and turned her into an international model.
Lagerfeld described Choupetteas his one true love and after giving her his surname, stated that if it were possible and legal, he would have married her.
Lagerfeld had appointed Choupette her own bodyguard, personal chef, and two maids who attend her every need. Choupette has over 190,000 followers on her Instagram account and has made £2.5m with her modeling career.
An entire collection titled ‘Choupette in Love’ had been launched in honor of the cat and a Chanel range had been inspired by her eyes. It is not clear yet of who will be caring for Choupette, but it is rumored that Lagerfeld’s male model muse, Brad Kroenig, may be an option.
