Papplewick School in Ascot has started its new academic year with two celebrations: winning Tatler magazine’s prestigious Prep School of the Year Award 2018/19 and the opening of a brand-new building on its site opposite Ascot Racecourse.
London’s Landmark Hotel was the setting for this year’s Tatler Awards on 11th September, when headmaster Tom Bunbury received the good news.
“We’re delighted to win this award,” he said. “My heartfelt thanks go to our wonderful staff and enthusiastic parents, whose commitment and dedication are vital to the success of Papplewick’s boys.”
The new facilities, completed over the summer this year, include an impressive boarding house for final year boarders as well as spacious classrooms for Year 5 boys. The school already boasts a covered pool, large sports hall, floodlit astroturf and 15 acres of land.
Papplewick operates three daily return transport services from London. Minibuses run to and from Chiswick and Brook Green, Hammersmith and an additional service has commenced this September from Gloucester Road. These runs are increasingly popular for parents in London who require day places for their boys before converting to boarders in the last term of year 6, and who are seeking a more rural setting and space, with endless amounts of extra-curricular activities on offer on site.
