An Artist’s Chelsea
An Exhibition by the painter members of Chelsea Art Society
What better subject for a Chelsea painter than Chelsea itself?
From the bustle of the King’s Road, past leafy squares and quiet street corners down to the open spaces of the river Thames, there is plenty of inspiration.
There is a rich artistic heritage in Chelsea, and Chelsea Art Society itself has its roots in the bohemian era of Chelsea’s past, when many artists still lived and worked in and around Tite Street.
We also announce the creation of a new prize which will be awarded for the first time at the exhibition: the Sloane Stanley Medal, worth £1000. Sloane Stanley has a long history in Chelsea dating back over 300 years and has long fostered the artistic community. This award is only available to painter members of Chelsea Art Society and is designed to encourage excellence in the disciplines of painting, drawing or printmaking.
