40-50 year old drivers are the worst offenders when it comes to speeding, according to Smartdriverclub’s ‘Profile of a speeder’ report.

Based on the driving behaviour of 6000 motorists ranging from 17 to 80, the car service found that middle-aged drivers were most susceptible to speeding for a variety of reasons.

According to Penny Searles, CEO of Smartdriverclub: “Motorists in their forties have that classic combination of intense work and home pressures which can make them heavy footed when they get behind the wheel.

There is also a whole host of circumstances in which speeding might be highly dangerous or is done to keep pace with the traffic on a motorway for example”.
