Thirsty consumers from around the world have caused a surge in demand for British food and drink, based on research by supply chain organisation GS1 UK.

Its report found that in the year to November 2017, the export of goods rose by 12% and British alcohol by 16%. Due to the weaker pound caused by Brexit negotiations, manufacturers in the food and drink industry predict that exporting will account for 23% of their business by 2023, up from 15% currently.
