As the competition for London school places heats up, Kensington Park School, a new independent school for boys and girls aged 11-18, provides a much needed additional choice for parents
Kensington Park School is already attracting a lot of attention and quite rightly so. Not only does the school have an enviable location with two sites either side of Kensington Gardens, it has put together an amazing team of high-calibre teaching staff drawn from some of the country’s leading independent schools.
A sizeable number come from St Paul’s School, including Dick Jaine, the former acting High Master, and senior teachers for subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry and Economics. Between them, these superb teachers have decades of experience delivering outstanding grades at GCSE and A-Level as well as guiding entry into the world’s top universities.
However, it is the most recent appointment that is really putting Kensington Park School on the education map. Paul Vanni has recently been appointed as Head Master. Currently Deputy Head of St Paul’s Girls’ School, Paul has spent his entire life in London schools and is deeply attuned to what London pupils and parents want. After spending thirteen years at St Paul’s School as a teacher, tutor, rowing coach and head of the modern languages department, Paul joined St Paul’s Girls’ in 2011 as Deputy Head and Director of School.
Paul Vanni said: The passion and vision of the leadership team has drawn me to Kensington Park School; there is a clear commitment to excellence in education through small class sizes, personalised pastoral care, and a unique and varied co-curricular partnerships programme.
Kensington Park School really is an exciting venture. It is a friendly school with the individual at its heart, and yet it is a school with an ambitious vision for education in the 21st century. With access to so many world-class facilities and opportunities on our doorstep, London is our campus.
Some of these world-class facilities include Imperial College’s Ethos Sports Centre with is state-of-the-art gym, pool and climbing wall. The school has also partnered with expert coaches, including former Olympians, in fencing and riding; Fulham Reach Boat Club, a superbly equipped new rowing facility on the Thames; and Will to Win, a top provider of tennis coaching. There will be an exciting outdoor education programme, including the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. The school’s fantastic location means that similar partnerships are in place for music and drama.
Kensington Park School offers an exceptional learning environment for pupils at every age of education with entry points at 11+, 13+ and 16+. The school’s sixth form, located to the south of Kensington Gardens, is dedicated to A-Level teaching and university preparation. Sixth formers have a tailored timetable specifically designed for A-Level learning and sixth form teachers are a team of true experts, with several A-Level chief examiners and textbook authors among their number.
If you would like to book a visit, please contact Jane Lovell, Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 020 3725 3192. Sixth form open evening on Thursday 22 February and 11+ and 13+ entry exam on Saturday 24 February. For more information visit kps.co.uk.
