Christmas Tree Recycling

This season, help the environment by recycling your Christmas tree. Here is our guide to your local council recycling services available this festive season.

Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea

The RBKC will offer Christmas Tree collection and drop off services from Thursday the 4th to Saturday the 20th of January. Collected trees will be shredded and composted. You can also arrange to have your tree collected by calling Streetline at 020 7361 3001 who will come within 48 hours. If your rubbish and recycling is collected outside, leave your tree at the boundary of your property so that it is visible from the kerb before 7 am and remove any pots and decorations.

Christmas Trees will be collected between the Tuesday the 3rd and Monday the 16th of January. Those with individual dustbin/sack waste collection will have theirs collected on the same day as their rubbish. If you have a front garden, place the tree there alongside your dustbin or sack. If you do not, place the tree near your home or rubbish bins, make sure not to obstruct access to it if your rubbish goes in wheelie bins. For more information, visit or call 020 8871 6000

You can take your tree in for free to one of the borough’s collection sites. Any tree under 2m/7ft, can be collected as part of the normal refuse collection if presented with a yellow sticker. They can also be placed in general waste bins. For larger trees, a special rate bulky waste collection is offered. For more information, call 020 7641 6180 or visit

You can leave the trees out on your usual collection day or take them to one of the borough’s collection points. Alternatively, you can take it to Lambeth Refuse and Recycling Centres. For more information, visit or call Lambeth’s Rubbish and Recycling Team at 020 7926 9000.
