Kung Fu: Oriental Buffet Restaurant

Kung Fu: Oriental Buffet Restaurant

This Oriental Buffet Restaurant, since its recent launch, has flourished and become an established part of the Kensington and Chelsea dining scene. Its popularity is not surprising as eating there is a most enjoyable experience.

My friend and I were pleased to escape from the busy Earl’s Court Road and dive into the welcoming foyer, meet a charming receptionist and descend a wide staircase into  the exceptionally spacious restaurant area. It is tastefully furnished with items imported from China which are smart and comfortable. The music, thankfully, is muted and calm. The murals showing scenes of China are attractive and there are some artistic touches with lighting and decorative features.

A wide selection of Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes are laid out in gleaming steel ware. They are sensibly  presented with the Starters and Mains separately displayed. Rice, noodles and several vegetables form their own groups.

There are stations for Japanese Sushi, Teriyaki style dishes and Teppenyaki cooked foods, Chinese Dim Sum and separate seafood stations.

I enjoyed fried crab claws with seaweed, followed by crispy beef, egg fried rice and zucchini. My friend happily indulged in spring rolls and satay chicken, which was followed by pork belly, fried sprouts, stir fry mushrooms and rice. We both agreed all this was very good quality and we would be pleased to come again. You can go back to buffet for seconds, if you wish!

Desserts (included in the price) were delicious, fresh fruits beautifully displayed, ice cream, jellies and wonderfully small, delicate pastries. We managed jelly and pastries!

The wine list is moderately priced and has a good selection of reds and whites. I imbibed the ‘Faustino’ ‘Rivero Joven’, a Rioja, which accompanied the beef main course well. My friend had the Waddling Duck ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ which he found perfect with the main course of pork. Beer and spirits are also available.

This restaurant is owned by Mr Han and his Manageress, Kelly Jin is charming and courteous. I enjoyed meeting the Head Chef, Mr R. Deng, Mrs L.T. Ding supervises the Sushi Bar and Windy Wang is Quality Controller of the Banquet.

Take Away is available and parties can be arranged in the private room.

All the staff are friendly, helpful and anxious to please.
