Hammersmith & Fulham and Ealing councils to stage protest against NHS cuts

On 30 September, protesters will march from Acton Park and Southall Park and will come together at Ealing Common for a rally and speeches from figures such as H&F Council’s Leader, Cllr Stephen Cowan.

The proposed cuts are set to affect Charing Cross and Ealing hospitals. These cuts will include the demolishing of the current Charing Cross Hospital, replacing the current Charing Cross Hospital with a series of clinics on a site 13% the size of the current hospital, and losing more than 300, possibly all, the acute care beds.

Cllr Cowan said, “If the NHS’s flawed plans go ahead, thousands of residents will lose local access to essential services – including blue-light A&Es, intensive care, maternity and paediatric units,” Cllr Cowan added. “People with some chronic conditions will also have to travel further for regular treatment.”
