Saudi Airlines have tightened their passenger dress code. The airline has stated that women are forbidden from “exposing legs or arms; or wearing too thin; or too tight clothes.” Men, on the other hand, are prevented only from “wearing short exposing legs.”
The airline has its origins in the conservative Sunni country but the dress code has brought criticism that the airline is discouraging overseas tourists. The dress is designed to prevent “offense or discomfort to other passengers” yet many have found themselves needing to buy clothes in at airports and even cancelling flights. It also seems, perhaps unsurprisingly, that women are facing harsher enforcement. The rules on men seem to be more relaxed.
